Freezer Meals

Normally I enjoy cooking dinner for my family because I like knowing what ingredients are going into our bodies.  However, there are times when life gets hectic or the occasional day where I don't feel like cooking.  That's when freezer meals come in handy.  Saturday I decided to set aside some time to prepare a few meals to have in the freezer for those crazy days.  The actual prep time was a little more than an hour for six meals.

Step 1: Plan.  Figure out what meals you want to make.  Print out the recipes so you have them handy for when you're ready to assemble everything.  Make a list of the ingredients you will need.  Don't forget to check your pantry for ingredients you may already have to help keep costs down.

Step 2: Shop

Step 3: Label your freezer bags so you know what goes where (and so you don't forget what you put in each bag).

Step 4: Prepare your work space.

Step 5: Gather supplies.

Step 6: Assemble meals.

Step 7: Put in freezer.  You will want to defrost them in the refrigerator the night before cooking and then throw them in the crock pot in the morning and cook according to recipe directions.

Step 8: Clean up and then relax with a nice glass of sweet tea.

Here is a list of the meals I made:

6. Chicken Tikka Masala (kind of just threw that one together myself)

And there you have it.  Six meals in the freezer in about an hours time.

This is totally unrelated to freezer cooking, but I just had to show off the big jar of pickles we found at Sam's Club.  I am so excited about these.
